The Acorn

The Acorn is an independent cafe, bistro and bottleshop situated in the heart of Yeovil, right opposite the Church green.

At The Acorn, we believe in simple, quality food and drink. We love to celebrate great local produce, served perfectly by our friendly team.

 MON TO SUN DAYTIMES: Homecooked brunch and lunch, barista coffee and seasonal deli
FRIDAY EVENINGS: Modern British menu inspired by French classics using Westcountry produce in our candlelit bar.
SUPPER CLUBS AND WINE TASTINGS: We also host monthly supper clubs and wine tastings. See the poster at the bottom of the homepage for upcoming events.

Booking is always advised, particularly for bookings larger than six people. Although we try to ensure walk ins can join us too, this cannot always be guaranteed.

Cafe and bar

Our cosy cafe bar is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a break away from the high street!

We serve a broad range of cakes, Somerset-roasted coffee, delicious brunch, homecooked lunches, local soft drinks and alcoholic beverages – also mostly local!

Our brunch and lunch menus are crafted around regional and seasonal ingredients that we love. Pop in and try one of our Somerset breakfasts, infamous cheeseboards, Somerset steak frites, homemade fish finger butties or anything else from our varied menus: see the menu tab for more details.

Whilst enjoying your food and drink, take a look at the pictures on the walls to see the provenance of the produce; all our pictures are taken ourselves to highlight our wonderful suppliers – feel free to ask a staff member for the story behind each one. 

Bottleshop and deli

In the first room of The Acorn, you will find a range of wines and cheese available to purchase so you enjoy at home.

We have over 15 cheeses from Somerset, Devon and Dorset. These range from traditional cheddars through to ash covered soft goats cheeses. You can pick up block cheddars at prices that rival the supermarkets cut to size, or you can treat yourself to something a bit more special and artisanal.

In our bottleshop, you will find over 50 bottles of hand-selected wines. We specialise mostly in Old World but you will find some New Worlds in there, and even the odd bottle of English wine! You can also pick up local ciders, ales, beers, spirits, aperitifs and apple juice! 

Bar and Bistro

On Friday evenings you can cosy up in our candlelit bar while sampling our fantastic range of food and drink on offer.

We serve a three-course modern British menu, inspired by French classics, using the best Westcountry produce. Our starters can also be served as ‘small plates’ for those who fancy a lighter bite to eat. Cheeseboards are also on offer too, with a menu of cheeses to choose from.

We have a well-crafted, fine wine list and knowledgeable staff who can help advise you on perfect pairings with your food choices.

If wine isn’t your thing, we have a broad range of local ciders, ale, spirits, Somerset Cider Brandy aperitifs, cocktails and soft drinks which also pair beautifully.
